Matt Stewart :: Artwork & More

My art, design, and illustrations have appeared on trading cards, comic books, and more. I love working on different types of projects and I love drawing in different styles. I also love working on web development, marketing, graphic design, and even archaeology projects; I hold two degrees in archaeology and am always looking for ways to incorporate that experience in what I’m working on. Check out my Portfolio page to see some of my previous projects.

When it comes to illustration work, I am principally a traditional artist who has worked on portraits, comic art, trading card art, fantasy/science fiction art, film storyboards, and character designs.  I flip between mediums, including markers, inks, designer gouache, pencil crayons, acrylics, and more. Choosing which medium to use is based off what I’m working on what someone asks me to use.

Trading Card Artwork

Matt Stewart :: Artwork & More

I create a lot of trading card artwork and a lot of it is shown here on my website, but I’ve also created artwork for many other applications and I am a graphic designer, web developer, marketer, and even have a background in archaeology!

I love working on multiple, distinct projects that draw from my skills, and I love drawing in different styles. I also love working on web development, marketing, graphic design, or even archaeology projects; I hold two degrees in archaeology and am always looking for ways to incorporate that experience in what I’m working on. Check out my Portfolio page to see some of my previous projects.

The Things I Love!

Graphic Design

All of my digital designs are created in Adobe programs: Illustrator, Photoshop, or InDesign. The examples shown here are a mixed bag of designs created in the classroom, in a job setting or for a client, and sometimes just for fun as I am always practicing and growing my skills.

Check out samples of my work on my Digital Design Portfolio Page.

Layout Design

Brochures and flyers are always fun to create. I love deciding on which fonts to use, the layout of the text and imagery, editing the imagery so it looks its best, and then seeing a finished product that increases a group’s brand awareness, sales, or whatever else they might be needing.

Check out samples of my work on my Brochures and Flyers Portfolio page.

Web Development

I have a completed programs in digital graphic design from Mount Royal University and a Web Developer program from SAIT. I have continued my education outside of the office and school, most recently with diving into courses on SEO and bettering my back-end web development skills with improving my knowledge of different coding languages. The website here is mainly built with a WordPress theme with only a little bit of customization, but I’ve only had so much time to work on making it unique. Over time it’ll become more and more… better?

Check out samples of my web design work on my Web Design and Development Portfolio page.

Heritage

I have over fifteen years experience working in western Canada and the arctic. I went to UNBC for my undergraduate degree and completed a Masters at the UofS (you can read my thesis here which includes many of my own scientific illustrations).  Lately I’ve spent most of my professional time working in marketing departments creating graphic designs, websites, and various marketing tasks like overseeing social media accounts and managing events. I still love archaeology and heritage but what I’m doing right now is equally fulfilling! I’ve loved every opportunity I’ve had in my professional career and I’m looking forward to what’s next!
