Doctor Who sketch card set
Way back in 2015 I slowly created individual sketch cards for each of the good Doctors. These sketch cards were illustrated on plain sketch card paper and featured each of the Doctors. The set includes William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, John Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davidson, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi and the War Doctor, John Hurt.
After I had finished this set, which took a few months as I was also working on other projects and working a 40+ hour job, I had thought I would go back to this and create a set for the companions. I suppose I’d also want to draw the main villains /aliens. Perhaps one day I’ll revisit that idea but lately I find I do very few non-company sketch cards as I just don’t have the time unless it’s a paid commission. When it comes to artwork I do for fun it’s usually a poor scribble in a sketch book or an experiment to try out a new style or technique.
A year after I made this sketch cards, Topps started releasing Doctor Who trading cards. As of now none of these sets included sketch cards. I don’t quite know why none of the sets don’t include sketch cards as Topps does do sketch cards for other sets (like the Star Wars products I work on). I’m guessing they don’t do them because of licensing rights. Perhaps one day this will change as I would LOVE to create Dr Who artwork on a licensed product.
I used pencils, felt pens (Faber-Castell brand I believe), and Copic Markers with some gel pen. I always meant to put this sketch card set up for sale but never got around to it (I can be lazy sometimes). Now that I have my website up I listed the sketch cards on my store. The price is $200 but if you scroll down to the bottom of this post you’ll find a discount code!
